Dementia NI Members Use Their Lived Experience To Drive Meaningful Change In Local Healthcare Services
Dementia NI members play a vital role in influencing our healthcare services and ensuring people with dementia receive the support they need to live well with dementia.
Now our members are co-producing an important video training resource for local health and social care staff.
Titled 'Hear Our Voice', the video resource aims to encourage healthcare staff to provide high-quality, person-centred support to people with dementia across all healthcare settings.
Supported by the Southern and South Eastern Trusts, Dementia NI members have shared their lived experiences to show health professionals how easy it can be to support people with dementia better by making a few positive changes.
Our members have also produced a useful leaflet with their top 10 tips as another way to ensure their perspectives are being heard within healthcare, at all levels.
By using their voices and providing powerful insights into what it's like to live with dementia, our members continue to create lasting and meaningful change where it is needed the most.
Dementia NI Member Peter Alexander, who took part in the project, says, "Sharing my experiences of living with dementia has energized me, but changing perceptions and raising awareness feels even more empowering."
The training video and leaflet are currently under development. Keep checking our website and socials for further updates!
